I’m a communication and media studies honours student at the University of Wollongong aiming to examine the use of narrative informed research as a medium to explore vulnerable stories, through the lens of domestic violence.

This blog will be a home for the stack of resources I’m compiling, as well as my own thoughts and concerns as I continue to tangle with the intricacies of personal narratives, and the potential of them to gently surround voids left empty by empirical data.

The Question:

What is the impact of vulnerable writing on the public understanding of – and response to – issues such as family violence, which are generally represented via statistics and carefully framed journalistic tropes?
